GETTING AROUND

Most journeys to the West End begin at one of London’s historic mainline stations. Each terminal offers a unique “curtain-raiser” walk or a quick Tube connection to the theatre district.

• London Paddington:
  • The Vibe: The grand entrance for visitors from the West.
  • The Connection: Hop on the Bakerloo Line (Southbound) to Piccadilly Circus or Oxford Circus. You’ll be at the heart of the action in about 15 minutes.
• London Euston / King’s Cross St Pancras:
  • The Vibe: The arrival point for the North, Scotland, and the Eurostar from Europe.
  • The Connection: Take the Piccadilly Line (Southbound) to Leicester Square or Covent Garden. It’s a direct, 10-minute shot into Theatreland.
• London Waterloo:
  • The Vibe: The gateway from the South Coast.
  • The Connection: If it’s a clear evening, we recommend the 15-minute walk across Waterloo Bridge. It offers the most iconic view of the London skyline and leads you straight to the Novello and Lyceum theatres. Otherwise, take the Northern Line two stops to Charing Cross.
• London Liverpool Street:
  • The Vibe: The hub for the East and the Stansted Express.
  • The Connection: Use the Central Line to Holborn or the new Elizabeth Line to Tottenham Court Roadfor high-speed access to the northern edge of the West End.
• London Victoria:
  • The Vibe: The primary hub for the Gatwick Express and the South East.
  • The Connection: A quick two-stop hop on the Victoria Line to Oxford Circus, or a leisurely 20-minute walk through St. James’s Park if you want to see Buckingham Palace on your way to the show.

The West End is surprisingly compact. In many cases, walking is faster than taking the Tube.

Pro Tip: Avoid the Tube between Leicester Square and Covent Garden. It is the shortest distance on the entire network and much quicker on foot!

The Golden Triangle: Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, and Covent Garden form a triangle that can be walked in under 10 minutes.

The Strand to Drury Lane: A beautiful 5-minute stroll that takes you past some of the world’s most historic stage doors.

The Night Tube: On Friday and Saturday nights, the Northern and Piccadilly lines run 24 hours, ensuring you can enjoy that post-show drink without rushing for the last train.
