Kevin Kennedy among cast announced for new Dorian Gray musical
Casting has been announced for a new musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, with familiar television and stage faces set to appear in the production.
The new show will feature Kevin Kennedy, best known for his long-running role as Curly Watts in Coronation Street, alongside a company of musical theatre performers bringing Wilde’s dark and provocative story to life in a fresh theatrical form.
The Picture of Dorian Gray remains one of the most enduring works of late-Victorian literature, charting the moral decline of a young man who trades his soul for eternal youth while his portrait bears the consequences of his actions. Its themes of vanity, decadence and corruption have inspired numerous stage and screen adaptations, but musical versions have been comparatively rare.
The new production aims to reinterpret Wilde’s gothic narrative through an original score and contemporary staging approach, positioning the story for modern audiences while retaining the wit and philosophical bite of the source material.
The tour begins 19th October 2026 in Darlington, performing at UK venues through until March 2027. You can view the full details on the show website here.
