@sohoplace opened in 2022 as a major new addition to London’s West End. Developed as part of the regeneration around Tottenham Court Road and the Elizabeth line, it was designed to bring a fully modern theatre into an area already rich with theatrical history.

Unlike many West End venues, @sohoplace was built from scratch for contemporary theatre-making. Its auditorium is flexible, with seating that can adapt to different staging styles, including in-the-round and end-on configurations. That makes it especially well suited to productions that want close audience connection, strong sightlines and a more intimate relationship between performers and the room.

The venue is operated by Nimax Theatres and is closely associated with producer Nica Burns, whose long-running project to create a new West End theatre helped deliver the building. Since opening, @sohoplace has quickly become known for ambitious plays, transfers and productions that benefit from a modern, highly adaptable space.

Tottenham Court Road is the nearest Underground and Elizabeth line station, with exits very close to the theatre. Leicester Square, Covent Garden and Oxford Circus are also within walking distance. The venue sits where Soho meets St Giles and Charing Cross Road, making it very convenient for restaurants, bars and central London transport.

@sohoplace is a great choice if you want a modern theatre experience rather than a traditional red-and-gold auditorium. Because the theatre is close to Tottenham Court Road station, it is one of the easier West End venues to reach, especially on the Elizabeth line. Soho can be very busy before and after performances, so booking food ahead is sensible.
